15th South Tyrol Three Peaks Alpine Run

For 15 years now, the Südtirol Three Peaks Alpine Run has been held in Sexten/Sesto. What began as a competition among friends to reach the Refugio Zsigmondy/Comici refuge, became a fixed event for mountain fans and mountain runners.

Annually, at most 1.000 participants start the race hoping to complete the 17,5 km long route and total climb of approx. 1.350 m to reach the finish at the legendary Three Peaks/Drei Zinnen.

Since 2005, there have also been events to introduce children to mountain running. The Mini Three Peaks Run for children and adolescents now boasts around 200 young participants each year.

The organisation committee around President Gottfried Hofer has already given much careful consideration to the forthcoming anniversary “15 years of South Tyrol Three Peaks Alpine Run”. There will of course be a special celebration to mark the anniversary. As well as the Mini Run, team event, etc. the organisers will also come up with something new again…

BBC & lonely planet's YEAR OF ADVENTURES

The series "A Year of adventures" challenges the adventuring journalist Ben Fogle to test his endurance, abilities and determination in various challenges or adventures around the world. 2011 he participated at the Three Peaks Run.

World premiere at 18 February 2012 on BBC Knowledge New Zealand - then follow: BBC Entertainment India, BBC Knowledge Australia, Asia, Scandinavia, Poland, Africa. On Saturday 10 March the series starts in Italy. The Three Peaks Challenge will be transmitted in episode 3 called "Endurance"!
